How this site is built, and how I build things.
How I build software
Some of the software described on this site was written with AI assistance. The idea, the architecture and the decisions were mine, and so was the checking. I am saying it here rather than leaving anyone to work it out.
I say it because of what happened with a research project of mine. It looked finished, and then someone asked me a question about it that I could not answer. The literature review had been put together with AI help and never checked, so I went through all forty-six sources against the primary literature myself. Roughly twenty of them turned out to say something other than what my paper claimed they said. The whole account is here. What I took from it was a habit of knowing which parts of my work I can defend, and of saying how the work was made.
The question I care about is whether I can explain each decision and defend the result with the tool out of the room. Where I cannot, I say so on the page.
